What to Expect

In our first few sessions, I will take time to get to know you. I like to understand you outside of the problem that brings you in for therapy. I will ask you a lot of questions but you will always have control over how much and when you want to share. Following this intake process, we will develop some goals that are authentic to your life and your vision for therapy. Once we have goals established, I like to make sure that sessions carry a balance between exploration of thoughts, emotions and history while also providing tools that you can start using immediately.

Confidentiality in Therapy

Your privacy is a top priority. With few legal exceptions listed below, all counseling sessions are strictly confidential. I will not disclose any other information without your written consent, and you may revoke that consent at any time (except in certain criminal justice situations).

Important Exceptions to Confidentiality:

  1. Harm to Others: If you pose a threat to someone, I may contact them and/or law enforcement.

  2. Abuse or Neglect: I am required to report known or suspected abuse of children or vulnerable adults.

  3. Self-Harm: If you're in imminent danger of harming yourself, I may need to involve emergency services.

  4. Minors: Confidentiality rights are limited for minors and are discussed with the child and guardians.

  5. Court Orders: I may be legally compelled to release records if subpoenaed.

  6. Professional Consultations: When consulting with other professionals, identifying details are protected.

  7. Couples/Family Therapy: Information from individual sessions may be shared within the couple’s session.

  8. Insurance: If using insurance, your provider may request documentation for audits or treatment reviews.

My Therapeutic Approach:

I offer an integrative and personalized approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence-based and insight-driven modalities to support meaningful, lasting change. Using Family Systems and Attachment perspectives, I help clients understand how early relationships and family dynamics shape current patterns. Through Narrative and Existential therapy, we explore the stories that influence your identity and the deeper questions of purpose, choice, and authenticity. My work is grounded in Trauma-Informed care and guided by Person-Centered principles, ensuring a safe, compassionate, and empowering environment. For practical skill-building and symptom relief, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused strategies, offering tools for emotional regulation, problem-solving, and resilience. When helpful, I also use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to support clients in reducing anxiety, breaking avoidance cycles, and effectively treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Together, we tailor the therapeutic process to meet your unique needs and support your growth.
